While some may categorize them as Renaissance Revival and others as Gothic Revival, they clearly draw inspiration from both traditions—combining the verticality and dramatic forms associated with Gothic design with the ornate figural carving popular in 19th-century Revival furniture.

Three expressive faces are carved into each seat back, supported by sculptural figures resembling sirens or mythological guardians.
