Beatty & Sons, used in pitchers and many other objects. It is cataloged as Early American Pattern Glass. The bowl has a folded oval design measuring 8" wide by 6" across by 4" deep. The inside bottom appears to have a fault in that the glass has a bumpy texture. About the maker: A. J. Beatty & Sons was established by Alexander J. Beatty around 1863 and operated in Steubenville until approximately 1889. In July 1888, the company announced its relocation to Tiffin, Ohio, and operations at the new factory began on August 15, 1889. The A. J. Beatty & Sons company merged with the United States Glass Company on January 1, 1892, becoming one of 19 factories in the new corporation (known as Factory R). After the merger, the "A. J. Beatty & Sons" name ceased to be the primary business name, although the Tiffin factory continued production under the larger company's umbrella and eventually became known as the Tiffin Glass Company.
