This monumental and breathtaking French Louis XV clock set, dating from approximately 1840–1860, is an exceptional three-piece garniture crafted entirely from solid bronze with its original ormolu gold finish. Richly sculptural, highly decorative, and commanding in scale, this set exemplifies the height of mid-19th century French Rococo revival artistry.
Central Mantel Clock
The impressive mantel clock is a true statement piece, distinguished by its abundant figural and floral ornamentation. The bronze case is lavishly adorned with finely modeled children (putti)—one holding a bird and another a flower—symbols of innocence and vitality, characteristic of the Louis XV style.
Rising above the dial is a spectacular flower-filled vase, from which cascading floral branches descend organically into the body of the clock. Every surface is animated with decoration—there is not a single plain area, making this clock a visual masterpiece from every angle.
Constructed entirely of heavy cast bronze
Retains its original ormolu gold finish
Recently cleaned and professionally checked
Mechanical movement in working order
Designed for mantel or console display
Pair of Monumental Candelabras
Flanking the clock are two extraordinary seven-light candelabras, each crowned by a sculpted child figure balancing the candelabrum atop its head—a classic and highly collectible Louis XV motif.
Seven candle arms per candelabra (14 total)
Designed for wax candles only (not electrified)
Matching molded feet, identical in design to the clock base
Fully cast bronze with original ormolu gold finish
Cleaned, checked, and structurally sound
The scale and sculptural quality of these candelabras elevate the ensemble to a museum-worthy decorative set.
