A large antique water cooler, made of thick, glazed Stoneware
Characteristic oval form, formed top and bottom openings
Decorated up front with the Royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom in deep relief
Light-brown bands at the top and bottom, with a repeating Foliate pattern with Thistle plants
Underside left unglazed
Well marked on the side with an oval mark - PORT-DUNDAS POTTERY COY. GLASGOW. Also marked with a number 4 up front, near the top rim.
Made by the Port Dundas Pottery Company of the district of the same name in Glasgow, Scotland, which was active during the period 1866-1923. This piece dates back to the earlier period of the company, better known for it's smaller Stoneware pieces such as bottles
Antique, late 19th century, Scottish in origin
Measurements: Approx. 15" tall, 14" x 11" overall
Weighs about 21 lbs. 10 oz.
Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. All original. Very well preserved, remarkable display. A shallow flake on the top rim on the right side from use. Some minor manufacturing imperfections, adding character to the piece
