Industrial red-painted steel neon clock manufactured by the Neon Clock Sales Company of Chicago, Illinois. The upper section houses a black-faced Correct Time clock encircled by a striking uranium glass neon tube-an exceedingly rare early feature that emits a vivid green hue under UV light. The lower marquee section was designed to hold interchangeable advertising panels, framed by the original metal tubing and trim. The rear retains both the Neon Clock Sales Co. service label and the Hansen Mfg. Co. Synchron motor plate, rated for 110V.
Produced during the golden age of neon advertising, these clocks were fixtures in gas stations, garages, and storefronts, their luminous design serving both practical and promotional functions. The use of uranium glass neon tubing was discontinued by the mid-century, making surviving examples extraordinarily scarce.
