From the Neoclassical period, circa 1830s, these Northern Italian wooden armchairs have been hand-painted by a master level artisan. The cream colored ground of the wooden frames has been detailed with golden moldings and green foliage. The chair back consists of two rails joined by an X-shaped stretcher, with the rails painstakingly detailed with a green ground and golden cherubic figures enjoying a bit of revelry. Each seat has a splendidly hued silk cushion with a variegated color scheme of pink, cream, green, and yellow.
