The MP-61 sofa and armchair, from 1973, were the first two pieces designed by Lafer that used a visible fiberglass shell structure. The interior foam structure is applied directly onto the fiberglass shell, which then rests on a cross base made of plywood plates covered in Rosewood veneers. This classic pair of chairs representing the pinnacle of vintage Brazilian modernist design, has been expertly restored by our shop and now features a rich, warm leather body that is sure to be a fantastic focal point of your living space.

Measurements: 34" wide, 37" deep, 28" high, 16" seat height.

Condition: Our restoration team has meticulously reupholstered the seating forms in a full-grain European leather, which represents the "top end" of upholstery leathers on the market. Customers should be educated that the leather is intended to distress with use, lightening slightly in color and showing superficial surface markings, thus creating a vintage appearance. A quality leather conditioner will help even out the wear and further enhance its beauty over time.

The white fiberglass seating forms display in good original condition, having been cleaned and polished. Some light surface wear and crazing are visible, only enhancing the chairs' vintage aura and charm. The rosewood X bases are in good condition, having been re-oiled to bring out the rich tones and grain figuring of the wood. The bases do show light blemishes to the rosewood veneer face, though structurally they remain stable. Please note that the original paper labels were not able to be salvaged in restoration. See less
