c. 1940s; mfd. by Gilbert at Winsted for Ben Burk Inc. - Boston
This oversized Old Mr. Boston advertising display was cast in the form of the brand's iconic bottle, complete with raised lettering, embossed top-hat mascot, and a Gilbert 8-day mechanical clock fitted into the front panel. The tan and black painted surface shows moderate wear to the paint.
The clock itself is marked by Gilbert at Winsted (Connecticut), one of America's most prolific makers of mechanical store clocks, and remains housed in its original bezel and glass. The cast form retains the script Fine Liquors paneling and molded borderwork characteristic of Old Mr. Boston's post-Prohibition marketing.
