The scroll work and forging discipline indicates the blacksmith was probably trained in the European tradition, possibly an immigrant to America. Patina has an even oxidation pattern that can't be replicated apart from a long passage of time. From an estate in Charlottesville, Virginia, this bespoke pair is impressive in scale, weight, and historical significance. No maker's mark.
