Antique Art Nouveau Metal Horse Head Bookends, c. 1930's
These elegant bookends represent busts of horse in Art Nouveau style. They are made from metal in extraordinary color, combining bronze, gold and drop of silver tones. Possibly made by Dodge Inc. These is some wear to finish, but overall they are in good condition and ready to hold the library together. There is a lining on the bottom.
Dodge Inc. began in Chicago in the mid 1920s by Ray E. Dodge, a former track star in the 1924 Olympics. In 1930 he moved the company to Los Angeles to begin making Oscars for Hollywood’s Academy Awards and in 1949 began producing Hollywood’s Emmys.
