An exquisite Fabergé-inspired decorative devotional egg--appears to be genuine goose egg--showcasing the elaborate artistry reminiscent of the legendary Russian Imperial eggs. This mid-20th century treasure opens to reveal a beautifully rendered Madonna and Child vignette, surrounded by delicate miniature botanicals and hand painting as well as metallic appliques—a devotional masterpiece in miniature.
The egg is mounted on its original matching decorative platform and housed in a glass display case with gold metal frame, giving the piece a cohesive, altar-like presentation. All elements appear to have been made together as a single display set.
