This antique Meriden silver plate creamer represents late-19th-century American hollowware associated with the Aesthetic Movement.
The form uses a cylindrical body with a raised botanical relief band, a pinched pouring lip, and an architectural handle with pierced ornament. Meriden’s quadruple-plate production was marketed as a heavier silver layer over base metal and supplied coordinated tea and coffee service forms for domestic table use.
The floral motifs reflect a departure from mid-Victorian revival styles, referencing asymmetry and natural subjects consistent with the 1885–1895 period. The scale identifies a functional creamer rather than a ceremonial vessel or display piece.
Provenance details unknown; acquired directly from a Northern California collection.
