This decorative charger plate was produced by Edward Marshall Boehm as part of the Young America 1776 series, adapted from Boehm’s sculptural Young Eagle model. Made of fine bone porcelain, the plate has a bright white ground with subtle translucence when held to the light, framed by a wide intaglio-molded border finished with richly hand-applied gold. At 13 inches in diameter, it is well suited for wall display or use as a decorative charger on a shelf, console, or table. Limited edition of 6,000.

What I especially appreciate about this plate is the quiet restraint of the design. The eaglet is youthful, yes—but not whimsical. At 13 inches, it reads as a decorative charger or wall plate, with a soft palette and broad gilt border that feel balanced and refined.
