Exquisite hand-painted herend porcelain openwork bowl from hungary, circa 1960-1990.
the herend porcelain manufactory was founded in hungary in 1826 and is one of the most prestigious porcelain manufacturers in the world. In the 19th century, herend supplied the habsburg dynasty and aristocratic clients throughout europe. To this day, herend stands for the highest quality craftsmanship and luxury porcelain.
artistic craftsmanship:
this bowl is a masterpiece of porcelain art. The intricate openwork/reticulated design imitates a woven basket weave – each individual "braid" was cut and shaped from the porcelain by hand. This technique requires exceptional skill and years of experience, as the porcelain is extremely fragile in its unfinished state.
hand-painted decoration:
at the center of the bowl is a beautiful, entirely hand-painted floral composition in vibrant pink/purple with yellow accents. Each flower and leaf is individually painted—no two herend pieces are identical.
special details:
the rim of the bowl is decorated with a woven rope pattern that perfectly complements the basket-weave look of the openwork design. The ivory glaze adds a touch of warm elegance.
authenticity:
the underside bears the authentic herend crest with the blue stamp mark "handpainted herend hungary" and the item number 13711/af, confirming its authenticity and origin.
uses:
perfect as a decorative jewelry dish, for candies and chocolates on special occasions, as a centerpiece, or as a standalone collector's item. The openwork design makes it a true eye-catcher, playing with light and shadow.
this bowl is a wonderful example of the art and tradition of the herend manufactory - a piece of hungarian cultural heritage for discerning collectors and lovers of exquisite porcelain.
excellent vintage condition. The hand-painted openwork bowl shows no chips, cracks, or damage to the delicate openwork. The hand-painted details are well-preserved with brilliant colors. The glaze is even and glossy. This piece has an attribution mark,
