This … Read more Add a luxurious interior accent to your space with this French Baroque, (Louis XIV, Louis XV) style wall mirror. This once antique frame from the early 19th century has been repurposed with a custom fit mirror. The six inch depth frame consists of hand carved gilt wood with hand applied gold leaf likely over gesso. The gilding gives dimension to the design of flowing floral scrollwork and acanthus leaves along with repeating bands the giving depth throughout. Hanging hardware is affixed on the back for ease in hanging. The wood mirror frame is thought to be either pine or limewood consistent of later 19th century production.

There's an interesting backstory to this antique mirror. It was once a forgotten frame from my husband's late grandmother which was given to us once we married. My late mother being an exceptional artist that she was, took the worn frame, cleaned and hand-applied the gold leaf you see today. I watched as she laboriously took on this task creating a revived heirloom for my bridal portrait. The bridal portrait faded, (thankfully, my marriage did not) and I took on the task of repurposing it as a wall mirror.
