This striking vintage ceramic figurine set depicts a dramatic Spanish bullfighting scene featuring a poised matador and a charging bull. Executed in richly glazed brown tones with contrasting crackle-glazed ivory details, the figures showcase expressive sculptural modeling and strong mid-century character.
The matador stands in a classic pose, holding his sword and sweeping cape, with finely incised decorative details on his traje de luces. The bull is powerfully modeled with muscular definition and dynamic movement, capturing the tension and drama of the corrida.
Both figures are finished in a hand-applied glaze with intentional tonal variations, surface speckling, and age-appropriate craquelure, particularly visible on the matador’s hat, cape, and shoulder accents. The bull is marked “USA” and “No. 551” on the underside, indicating American production.
