Exceptional and imposing antique American Brilliant Period (1876–1917) hand-cut lead crystal pedestal compote – a true showstopper at 17 inches tall with dramatic scale and masterful cutting.
The oversized flared bowl features one of the era’s most coveted and deeply executed patterns: intricate Russian crosshatching, large hobstars, fans, strawberry diamonds, and vesica motifs, all framed by a sharp sawtooth scalloped rim. The substantial pedestal stem and starburst base add to the prismatic brilliance – this heavy piece rings clearly and sparkles intensely under light, showcasing the pinnacle of American cut glass craftsmanship (unsigned, attributable to top makers like Hawkes, Libbey, or similar).
Excellent antique condition: crystal clear with no chips, cracks, or repairs noted; outstanding depth of cut and fire.
Ideal as a grand dining table centerpiece, epergne-style display for fruits/flowers, or a collector’s trophy piece. Increasingly scarce in this monumental size – a standout example from the golden age of American Brilliant glass.
From a private estate. Carefully packed shipping; local pickup in Orange County CA welcome.
