A beautifully crafted 19th-century faux bamboo side chair featuring a handwoven cane seat and an elegant spindle fan-back. This chair is a classic example of the English and French Chinoiserie Revival styles popular during the late Victorian period (circa 1880–1910).
The frame is constructed with turned wood made to imitate bamboo, a highly fashionable design motif of the era. The cane seat retains its warm, honey-toned patina, and the wood exhibits gorgeous age and character consistent with 19th-century hand craftsmanship.
On the underside, workshop markings remain visible—typical of antique production houses of this period. These numbers were used to match seat and frame components during assembly in European and American workshops. Like most faux bamboo seating of the era, the chair is unsigned, which is expected and correct for this style.
