This unique estate bought item was said to be used in a set decoration in an old "black & white" … Read more This unique estate bought item was said to be used in a set decoration in an old "black & white" movie. Circa late 19th century, this oversize Continental charger is probably majolica pottery. The center of the charger is decorated with a hand painted mythological scene of a Satyr disrobing a young statuesque maiden. Surrounding this vividly rendered center is a copious display of mythical bare breasted women. These figures are positioned amongst an array of colorful floral scrolls. Attached to the reverse of the charger is an old, hand made holder, making it suitable for hanging. This greater than 100 year old poetry is in good condition with some minor ware.
