Elsmore & Son of Tunstall, England, registered in 1879. In rich sepia tones, a heron-like bird stands at the edge of a pond surrounded by reeds and waterlilies, with a finely detailed border of aquatic motifs. It’s a classic example of the Aesthetic Movement’s love of nature and Japanese-inspired design. Measures approximately 9.75" long, 6" deep, and .5" tall. Good antique condition with expected allover crazing, age toning, and scattered discoloration to glaze, particularly on the back and along the rim. Minor wear at the edge and light utensil marks from use. No significant cracks or large chips noted; structurally sound and very displayable. Perfect for wall display, hutch styling, or layered tablescapes, and a wonderful addition to any brown transferware or English ironstone collection. See less
