An unusual pair of Continental Rococo carved armchairs that show English influence in the “Chippendale” backs and general format, but with fine and quirky details in the wonderfully carved knees and arms that indicate a Northern European origin, possibly Dutch or Scandinavian. Mid 18th century, fruitwood or light walnut. Good antique condition, sturdy, with worming, signs of age; one rear leg with a stile repair.
