Whimsical hand painted lacquered wooden peacock-shaped keepsake box handcrafted by an Indonesian artisan. This cutie was hand carved from albesia, a wood that is indigenous to Indonesia. The box disassembles into three pieces, one, a tail with a dowel that lifts off from the lid of the oval two-piece peacock box; two, a lid that lifts off from the lower portion of the box; three, the actual lower portion of the box (please see photos). Note, the head of the peacock is a friction-fitted piece which can be removed but it is not meant to be removed, it’s just the way the creator made the piece. It measures as follows:

Overall: 10” x 3” x 6” W/D/H (height taken from the top of the head comb)
Disassembled: tail- 5¾” 3” x 2¼” W/D/H; 2-piece box- 5” x 2/34” x 6” W/D/H
Weight: 8 oz.

Colors are a mix of mauve taupe, a sophisticated blend of brown and purple creating a muted earthy tone combined with subdued shades of gold, platinum, taupe and black. The overall color scheme exudes a sense of calm and elegance, making it an adaptable color palette to complement most any design choice in today’s modern homes. In excellent condition with age-appropriate wear such as scuffs to the paint from everyday use which does not affect its beauty or utility. There is no makers mark.

A fabulous décor accent to adorn a stack of books on a coffee table or étagère or to display, as keepsake box, on a dresser top to store petite trinkets or treasures.
