Dress a bedroom, chapel corner, or private study with this refined devotional antique kneeler crafted in France circa 1870 and shaped in the graceful Louis XV taste. Fashioned from richly toned walnut, the prayer chair features an intricately carved back panel centered by a pierced cartouche framing a raised gilt-accented cross, surrounded by deeply sculpted acanthus scrolls and rocaille motifs that highlight the exceptional workmanship of the period. The seat and top rail are upholstered in later floral tapestry fabric secured with decorative brass nailhead trim, complementing the serpentine apron and cabriole-style legs.
