The rectangular base is richly decorated with garlands, sphinxes, and classical motifs of Greco-Roman inspiration. The white enameled dial, with Roman numerals and "pomme" hands, is signed by a watchmaker from Lyon, reinforcing its authenticity and quality. It retains much of its original gilding, shining with the elegance characteristic of the finest pieces from this period. A characteristic example of prestigious French decorative clockmaking, intended to embellish aristocratic and bourgeois living rooms. 52 cm high x 37 cm wide x 15 cm deep. See less
