This substantial Aubusson style piece, measuring 40 1/2" by 70 1/2", was hand made of wool yarns on a canvas mesh base. The new back lining is 100% unbleached, natural linen and includes a rod pocket for safe hanging. The white and red rose motif over typically baroque botanically and geometrically inspired medallions and ornate borders are artfully rendered in shades of brown, tan, white, red and pink, much like those found on tapestries woven by the expert weavers of 17th and 18th century Aubusson, France. When needlepoint became a more popular pastime, needlepoint versions of such tapestry motifs were adapted to handwork projects. This large and lovely panel is ready to be hung and decorate a wall or used to upholster to a new headboard or other large piece of furniture. See less
