"Diana the Huntress" takes centerstage on this vintage handcrafted accessories box made of Incolay stone - a composite of quartz-based minerals that are designed to look like carved stone or cameos. In this case, the stone is a beautiful swirl of blacks, browns, whites, and creams. The highly-detailed relief carving portrays the Roman Goddess of the Hunt, Diana, alongside her hounds.
The box features a metal hinge and velvet-lined interior. It was manufactured by Incolay Studios of California between the 1960s and 1980s. These sort of boxes were produced in the United States, and no two boxes are identical due to natural color variations. The boxes commonly featured mythological creatures, romantic scenes, floral designs, and nautical imagery.
Original manufacturers label remains affixed to the underside of the lid (shown in images).
