This ensemble consists of seventeen (17) antique mechanical pocket watches, arranged within a custom-made display case commissioned in Azerbaijan in the early 2000s. The watches range from late-19th-century to mid-20th-century production and represent Russian, Swiss, and European manufacturers. The collection includes both open-face and hunter-case designs, with engraved silver cases, traditional enamel dials, and period-appropriate numerals.
The display case is handcrafted with a solid ½-inch hardwood base, black glass side walls, and a clear glass top (not beveled). The watches rest in a fitted deep-blue velvet interior that enhances contrast and presentation. Brass framing and corner mounts secure the glass panels and provide a refined, museum-style appearance.
The collection includes a visually diverse group of antique watches, most of which are solid silver-cased or silver-alloy examples, along with a smaller number with nickel or brass-alloy cases. Many cases show chased, engraved, or cartouche-style ornament, including vegetal scrollwork, medallions, and heraldic motifs. Several dials feature Roman numerals, while others reflect classic Arabic railroad or navigation layouts.
Notable features of the group include:
• Multiple silver hunter-case watches with engraved lids
• Several Russian-market Swiss watches with Cyrillic text
• A railroad-style stopwatch/timer
• Multiple examples with 24-hour inner rings or dual scales
• One miniature fob-size watch is included with the main set
Although individual mechanical evaluations are not performed here, the watches collectively represent over a century of European and Eurasian horological tradition.
The collection is priced at its appraised value, which reflects the set being sold as a unified decorative and collectible display. Individual watches could achieve higher cumulative totals if sold separately, but the ensemble format creates added value through presentation, completeness, and case craftsmanship. The appraisal is available upon request.
