The teak "Star" bowls are actually the very bottom of a the tree trunk where it enters the ground. After a teak tree is harvested the remaining section is dug out. The solid center of the root is removed which creates the basic bowl shape. The all-hardwood bowl is then finished to various specifications. This bowl received a very light sanding that leaves the grain of the wood exposed to the elements. A very light coat of wax brings out the various colors while still leaving the bowl in a rustic state.
