This listing is for a gorgeous antique French grandfather clock.
This style is referred to as a "morbier comtoise" clock, meaning a grandfather clock from the Morbier region of France.
This is an early piece dating to the 18th century. It features a balloon style case with rounded sides and a twin train movement.
The movement has time and strike functions. It is complimented by a porcelain dial with a lattice-style dial surround. This type of design is typical for morbier clocks of the 18th century. Later 19th century designs featured repoussé brass dial surrounds rather than lattice-style.
