Elegant and finely crafted Italian marquetry inlay with a high gloss veneer top showcasing intricate scrollwork and birds in various exotic woods, framed within a rectangular edge profile and raised on elegant cabriole legs. A perfect balance of craftsmanship and function — equally suited for use or display as a statement piece in a library, living room, or study. The table cleverly conceals a useful three part compartment below the hinged top which activates the music when opened. The tune is A Man and a Woman (French: Un homme et une femme) a score written by Francis Lai for a 1966 French film directed by Claude Lelouch and starring Anouk Aimée and Jean-Louis Trintignant. Very romantic!
