The object is a finely carved banded chalcedony snuff bottle displaying distinctive triangular banding that naturally forms within the stone. The bottle is smoothly polished to a soft gloss, emphasizing the crisp geometry of the triangular strata, which appear in alternating tones of warm amber, tan and translucent grey.
The snuff bottle is of a flattened ovoid body, tapering to a flat oval feet which is slightly concave. The sloping shoulders support a short cylindrical neck with a concave opening. The interior is well hollowed. The snuff bottle is smaller in size and feels good in the hand. The stopper is the original one and of a matching color.
The well hollowed interior, the concave opening and foot support the date of 1970's.
