The history of Bordallo Pinheiro begins with the artist Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro (1846–1905), a 19th-century Portuguese illustrator, caricaturist, and sculptor who founded the Fábrica de Faianças das Caldas da Rainha ceramics factory in 1884. His legacy is carried on by this factory, which continues to produce high-quality ceramics inspired by his original designs, blending traditional handcrafted techniques with modern innovation.
