WONDERFUL SHIP CAPTAIN'S CAPSTAN PEWTER INKWELL
EARLY 19TH CENTURY
DIMENSIONS
About 3 1/2" tall x 9" base diameter.
DESCRIPTION
Large nautical pewter inkwell. Wide base for stability on shipboard. Hinged lid. Six holes for pen inserts. Retains the original porcelain ink insert.
CONDITION
Overall excellent. Minor surface abrasions easily commensurate with age and use. No dents. Rich old pewter patina (all visible in the images). A RARE EARLY 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN MARINE INKWELL.
