The plates were designed by the acclaimed Danish artist Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006), known for his departure from Scandinavian minimalism in favor of colorful, fantastical designs.
The collection was produced by the prestigious German porcelain company Rosenthal as part of their high-quality Studio-Line. Wiinblad had a long and significant collaboration with Philip Rosenthal, which lasted over 50 years. The main series of plates featuring scenes from the Aladdin tale were produced between 1979 and 1983.
