Each chair features a beautifully carved and shaped pierced backs with a radiating fan or anthemion motif, flanked by gracefully scrolling open arms. The upholstered seats have a serpentine front and rest on square tapered legs with molded details, joined by block feet. Retaining traces of original or early white paint with subtle gilt accents, the finish sows a desirable patina consistent with period wear. Classic examples of late Georgian neoclassical design, these armchairs display symmetry and delicacy associated with the period.
