From the lines of the crest to the cabriole legs, it shows the classic Louis XV form and style. It has been newly re-upholstered with a colorful linen toile featuring a stylized peacock and floral motifs. The seat is covered in a matching deep red velvet to match the red in the peacock. The reverse is covered in a matching neutral linen. The upholstery is trimmed with a double welt-cord piping.

The frame is in excellent condition. It features floral and scroll carvings on the crest and apron. Our best estimate is that the chair may have been manufactured about 1970. (It seems too well made to be of recent construction!) There were signs of use and wear when we acquired the chair, so we have given the frame a new, Vintage white finish.

The chair measures 38 inches high at the crest, 29 inches wide, and 25 inches deep. It sits slightly low with a seat height of 15½ inches. (Most occasional chairs usually have a seat height of approximately 17 inches.) See less
