As determined from the brass plaque (Fragata Espanola 1780), this was modeled after one the Spanish ships that fought in the battle of Cape St. Vincent, which took place off the southern coast of Portugal on 16 January 1780 during the American Revolutionary War.
This is a large, lifelike example measuring L: 34" x H: 25.75" x D: 12" with very detailed components (ladders composed from string, carved and stained / painted anchor, wheel, life boat) along with hand-painted motifs and hand-made linen sails and flags. The details are spectacular, and all strings are intact. Very minor wear present; overall, excellent, vintage condition. See less
