About The Poster: This poster was created for production of the play Mahagonny by Kurt Weill at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2002.
About the Play: Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny is a political-satirical opera composed by Kurt Weill to a German libretto by Bertolt Brecht. It was first performed on 9 March 1930 at the Neues Theater in Leipzig. Some interpreters have viewed the play as a critique of American society.
About the Theater: The Teatro Colón is the main opera house in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is considered one of the ten best opera houses in the world by National Geographic, and is acoustically considered to be amongst the five best concert venues in the world. The present Colón replaced an original theatre which opened in 1857.
Poster is in overall very good condition with some creasing that will be removed when the poster is framed. From a private collection.
