Direct from France, a fabulous pair of antique French ARM chairs, heavily carved in Renaissance/Baroque style. Stunning for a formal dining or French kitchen and with their large side and abundant carvings, excellent as fireside or “throne” chairs in any room! ALSO NOTE: four matching side chairs are available and sold separately.

The solid oak chairs feature ornate crowns with dimensionally carved cartouche and birds in flight on either side. Large carved finials sit above turned posts, with carved blocks and open carved Black Forest fruits, foliage and scrolls framing the center arched splat with tonal beige fabric and brass tack edging.
Each arm is a large, carved open mouth Renaissance creature resting upon thick, turned posts. The wide seats have carved beveled edges and matching tonal beige upholstery with tack trim (added during the years, very clean and suitable for continued use).

Elegant features in the lower chair as well, with carved blocks between the turned legs and stretchers as well as cross stretchers. Quality construction, well built by skilled craftsmen of the period, circa1890 (upholstery more recent).

Measurements: 53” ht. x 27.5” x 26”. 17.75” seat ht.; 21.5” width across back.
