The vessel takes the form of a small flask or juglet, traditionally used to hold oils, perfumes, or cosmetics. Its cylindrical body, tall, narrow neck, flattened rim, and applied strap handle reflect the elegant simplicity characteristic of early glassmaking following the invention of glassblowing in the 1st century BC.

Formed from emerald or blue-green soda-lime glass, the color derives naturally from trace iron oxides in the sand used by ancient glassmakers. The surface exhibits striking iridescence and weathering, the result of centuries of burial.
