Excellent Pre-Owned Condition.
The official pattern number and name given by US Glass to this eye-catching pattern is #15144 – Sheraton. The story begins in July 1912, when renowned designer, Reuben Haley, lodged an application for a patent of a glass vessel, which was granted a few months later and within a short time it was in production by U.S. Glass, with the name Sheraton proudly assigned to it. The pattern was "Mission Colonial" in style, named after the English Georgian-era designer, Thomas Sheraton. With its elegant Chippendale-style handles, distinctive Greek Key border on both the lower base and under the extended spout; the slender eight-panel extended neck complete the look. The glass journals, at the time, reported it widely and enthusiastically – heralding it as a most successful and elegant design. This beautiful cruet measures 5¾” x 4” H/W (with stopper); weight 12 oz.; crafted from clear pressed moulded luminous glass. The stopper is original to the cruet. In excellent condition with wear that is typical for glass that is over 100 years old. A few miniscule spots of haze reside on the interior bottom, which are mostly indiscernible. The cruet shape in the Sheraton pattern is somewhat rare and for an EAPG cruet collector, this beauty will be a great add to that collection or a fabulous gift for someone who is.
