This first addition, hand colored lithograph comes from the first addition of "The Birds of Australia" and features a lovely scene of three "Schoeniclus Albescens." AKA little sandpipers. The artwork is on rag paper and has been professionally matted and framed. The scene depicted is a trio of little sandpipers interacting and foraging in their natural environment with exquisite details throughout. The artist captures every detail from the plumage, to the flora. This series took the artist 12 years to complete! The famed artist lived from 1804-1881. This piece was created in the late 1800s. It would be magnificent on any wall! It can be hung via the universal metal bracket on the back. The frame is hand caved solid wood with beautiful carved detailing. The matting is mostly white with a small gray accent. The wording a the bottom of the artwork reads from left to right: "J. Wolf & H C Richter, del el lith." , "Schoeniclus Albescens." , "Hullmandel & Walton, Imp.".
