This exceptional 19th-century Swedish sofa bench, dating around 1800, perfectly embodies the graceful, restrained refinement of the Gustavian period, with its neoclassical style inspired by King Gustav III's admiration for the French Louis XV and Louis XVI aesthetic. Condition commensurate with age with various rubbing and losses to the paint layers. An aged split along the seating plank traverses natural knots in the wood running along the surface area. Old worming along the lower extremities of the bench.
