The ceramic gourd is entwined with climbing lotus stems and leaves that the little frogs use to transverse their journey. The back has a hole to hang the piece and also has glazed inscription in Chinese. Hole in the front of the piece is large enough to place an orchid or other plant but can also be used as a vase for flower arranging. Inscription is about the San Francisco Bay Area discussing the San Francisco fire after the 1906 earthquake and mentions Oakland and Sacramento. Artist is likely to be Christian as they reference a date as A.D. See less
