Offered is a vintage handwoven cotton textile from Guatemala. The process is known as Jaspe, and it is traditional cloth of Maya tribes in Central America, where colorful resist-dye threads are painted and their design emerges as they are woven on a loom, which produces patterns in the warp, weft, or both, and is somewhat similar to Ikat made in other parts of the world such as South East Asia and Africa. This piece is very soft and thick, perfect to make pillows, a coverlet for a bed, a table cloth, summer dresses, robes, scarves, to upholster chair seats, as a trim for sheets, napkins, or even quilting projects - the possibilities are endless.
