The process is known as Jaspe, and it is traditional cloth of Maya tribes in Central America, where colorful resist-dye threads are painted and their design emerges as they are woven on a loom, which produces patterns in the warp, weft, or both, and is somewhat similar to Ikat made in other parts of the world such as South East Asia and Africa.
