The maker … Read more This tall attractive glass bottle vase exemplifies techniques learned from the glass makers of Murano Island in Venice. The maker is unknown, just a label that reads "Hand Made Artist Studio." But the application harks back to Venetian glass - the mottling, the confetti (the red plashed here with black centers,) and the thin black glass strands. It requires an strong and experienced glass artist to hold up such a tall hand blown bottle, all 19 inches over the flame. The puntel at the base is large, an evidence of hand blown glass. I have watched blown glass being made at Murano Island and Steuben in Corning NY and appreciate the process this vase was made. The tall vase has a long neck on broad shoulders over a bulbous body and tapering to small base. There is a need for small river rocks to be placed inside the vase to add weight so it does not tip over. It is truly a beautiful work of art in glass. See less
