This is a hammered copper pitcher or jug with a unique design that includes a flared, double-spout rim and two handles. It is estimated to be from the late 1800s and has a textured, hammered exterior and a patinated interior - an obvious sign that it had been used in the past.
Many copper products, including housewares like this one, were made in that time period because there was a precise convergence of industrial demand, new extraction technology, and copper’s unique physical properties to be molded easily. This advancement coincided with the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts movements, which you can begin to see in the form of this piece.
