A vase by Iwakiri Bikodo Satsuma pewter tinware. The company was founded in 1916 and initially made "snake pipes", but realized the tinware had more potential. It has been used because of its non-toxicity and warmth.
The scene surrounding this vase depicts winged birds and mountains in the traditional Japanese style. There's a darker gray/pewter color surrounding the top of the rim, a trio of silver bands at the base of the stem and a mottled silver/pewter base. The vase opening: 1.25in wide, large enough for a bouquet of flowers. If you're a collector of Japanese Satsuma Tinware then make this a "keeper" amongst your collection.
