This is a vibrant set of Mason’s Ironstone bread plates, dating to the late 19th century. They are decorated in a richly detailed Chinoiserie “vase and floral vignette” pattern. Each plate displays a central urn or vase bursting with stylized blossoms and trailing foliage, surrounded by delicate tendrils and floral sprays rendered in a bold polychrome palette of pink, green, light blue, black, and yellow on a creamy white ironstone ground. The design is typical for Mason’s Asian-inspired decoration borrowed from the export porcelain and Chinese famille rose motifs that were highly fashionable in early Victorian England.
These are stamped with the “Mason’s Patent Ironstone China” mark as well as the pattern number 1482. These are about 6.35 in diameter. They would be perfect for service or in a plate arrangement. See less
