Horner & Co, New York, one of the premier furniture makers of the Gilded Age. Dresser features a large tilting mirror plate framed in faux bamboo with decorative spindled cresting and turned finials. Below, three graduated drawers with turned bamboo-style pulls provide ample storage. The piece rests on short turned feet, completing its balanced and elegant design. Crafted 1885-1895, this dresser reflects the Aesthetic Movement popular in late Victorian interiors, and the bird's eye maple veneer adds depth, texture, and warmth. This dresser is a striking example of American interpretation of Anglo-Japanese design, combining functionality, craftsmanship, and artistic flair. See less
